Planning:
I wouldn't have had a wedding without my mom.  If it had been left for me to do all the planning Patrick and I might have eloped or run off to an island.  But my mom's a big social planner and she ran with everything.  She was amazing.  She even made our invitations with tiffany blue Ribbon and chocolate brown to match our colors.

Centerpieces: We used white Cape May pitchers filled with blue Hydrangeas, yellow roses and natural greenery.  Kate's did all of the flowers and did a breathtaking job.

Placecards: We made cards from the same paper as our invitations and placed them under blue ribbon provided by Congress Hall - simple but elegant.

We Used the Internet:

What didn't I use the internet for.  I used the Knot a lot and many other websites.  Sometimes the best ideas come from other brides.  We got the majority of our ideas from websites.  We wrote our own ceremony and I used the internet to get ideas for making a unique ceremony that reflected our spiritual values vs. a traditional ceremony.  The internet was a huge tool!

Rehearsal Dinner: The Grand
The only thing that went wrong, if you can call it that, is that four days before our wedding the place we had reserved for our rehearsal dinner, The Lobster House, caught fire.   But the coordinator for The Lobster House was great.  She even called my mother-in-law while the restaurant was on fire!  And, we ended up having the rehearsal dinner at The Grand and they were very accommodating.  It all turned out great!

Favors:
My husband's brother and his Uncle passed away prior to our wedding so for our favors we made a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.   We also made scrolls in memory of
them and put purple Leukemia support bracelets inside the scrolls for all the guests.

When we look at the pictures or the video you can see everyone wearing the bracelets and it really meant a lot to us.  Even the next day, people were still wearing the purple bracelets in memory of those who couldn't be there for our wedding!

Cake: Congress Hall
Our cake was 5 layers with white scrolls and a Tiffany Blue Fondant.  I wasn't very picky about the cake but they did a fabulous job with it!

First Dance:
"True Companion" Marc Cohen
Father/Daughter Dance:
"You Raise Me Up" Josh Groban
Mother/Son
Dance:
"Simple Man" Lynyrd Skynyrd
The lyrics to this song were just perfect for the relationship Patrick has with his mother.

Formalwear:

Bridesmaid's
Gowns:

The Wedding Touch,
PA - I chose 2 piece bridesmaid gowns and
some of my bridesmaids have actually worn them again!

Best Part
The best part was the fact all of our friends and family were with us for the whole weekend.  Even though my family pretty much grew up in Cape May (my grandmother actually worked @ Congress Hall when she was younger and there is a school named after my grandfather), it was really a destination wedding for most of the guests and we came in from Pennsylvania.  Almost all of Patrick’s family and friends from college had to travel quite far to be there for our wedding – most of them I had never even met before! It was so nice to have all that time to spend getting to know them. So from Wednesday-Sunday we got to spend time with friends and family and to have all that time was amazing.  We rented a house for our Bridal party so we were able to spent one night there with them along with making our way over to the house my in-laws rented to visit with family. Friday I had my nails done with my bridesmaids and mother-in-law and then we all met my mom for lunch.  After our Rehearsal Dinner we went out to Carney's to meet up with everyone who did not go to dinner.  The morning of the wedding I went for a run before meeting up with my girls for a long walk on the beach and breakfast @ Uncle Bill’s. The day after the wedding both my mom and my mother-in-law hosted a Sunday brunch and the best part was most people were still wearing their purple bracelets.

Having that much time with our friends and family allowed us to really enjoy our wedding day instead of rushing around trying to visit with everyone in only a few hours.  For our wedding I actually sat down and ate and we were able to dance the whole time - it was a good thing too considering Bigg Romeo had everyone dancing the whole time.

How We Met:
Patrick and I met at work.  We actually went to High School together but didn't know each other then.  We met when Patrick started working for Verizon and I planned an after work happy hour just to meet him.  We went to a bar called Maddies in Frazier, PA and the band we chose for our wedding (Bigg Romeo) was playing there that night.  We have been together ever since.

Tips for Brides To Be:

The biggest piece of advice I got from my sister.  She said to take time to stand back and just soak it all in.  Don't get wrapped up in anything that goes wrong (because things WILL go wrong) and just enjoy it because it goes by so fast!
