How We Met: I met Richie outside of Texas Ave. School while I was walking my first graders to the IMAX theater for a field trip.  Richie was our police escort for the day.  We began talking and soon realized that we went to Atlantic City High School at the same time.  We talked, that led to a date and the rest is history.  I knew after that first date, that Richie was a very kind and special man...the kind of man that would make the perfect husband!

The proposal & ceremony:  Richie asked my son's permission to marry me about a month before he proposed.  My son was able to keep the secret and after Richie proposed, he chose my son to be his best man!  We included my son in our ceremony as well with a unity sand ceremony on the beach.  It was a very touching ceremony for all of us!

The Reception: The parents of one of Richie's best friends let us borrow their home for our wedding reception.  They were so sweet and gracious and we are both so grateful.

"Our dj was fantastic!  He had everyone up and dancing the whole time and was a great Master of Ceremonies.  Our first dance song was by Elvis and our dj even dressed up as Elvis for us!"

Bridal Party Gifts:
We gave our bridesmaids Brighton necklaces and earrings with friendship and love symbols. The groomsmen's gifts were T-shirts with the Atlantic City Bomb Squad logo and our wedding date.

Because Richie is an Atlantic City police officer, we had a sign by our photo booth directing guests to have their "mug shots" taken.  We have a really nice keepsake scrapbook of our guests.

Special Touch - Marriage Advice Cards
We had a table set up with large index cards for guests to leave their own marriage advice for us.  One guest wrote, "every morning ask yourself what you can do today to improve the quality of your spouse's life."

Strange Coincidences:  For our wedding, I wanted to include my sister who passed away in a car accident many years ago.  I had a framed picture of my sister to put on one of our tables so she could be a part of our wedding, in spirit.  A few days before the wedding, I just happened to run into my sister's best friend on the Boardwalk.  I hadn't seen her in years - since the day of my sister's funeral, in fact.  It was such a wonderful coincidence, I ended up inviting her to the wedding and felt like that was my sister's way of acknowledging our wedding and such an important moment in my life!

Decorations/Things we made ourselves:  We put a lot of effort into making our own decorations and had a lot of help from friends and relatives!  We made our invitations, our programs, the arbor for our ceremony, the Monopoly placecards, table menus and a card box that looked like our cake decorated with seashells.  We also ordered a sign with our names and wedding date and did all the packaging of our wedding favors.  We were lucky to have so many people who helped us.  My husband's two sisters, Megan and Noelle, helped with the arbor.  Mayra, one of my bridesmaids helped with the programs and placecards.  I also had lots of help from my matron of honor Susan and my friend Lori.  We were lucky to have so many people to help us... and a very special thank you to all our parents!

Best Part: We were sitting at our sweetheart table on the porch, just after the ceremony, and it was an amazing moment for both of us watching our families and friends who came to share our wedding day!

Tip for Brides-To-Be: Hire a person to come help out for a few hours on the day of the wedding and give them a list of what you need them to do that morning.  For our wedding, there were a lot of things to get set up the morning of the wedding.  Because I was getting my hair done with the bridesmaids, Richie set up the gazebo, the Monopoly card place settings and many of the other table decorations and special signage we had made for the wedding.  We couldn't set up the day before because of wind, so Richie's morning was a little hectic.

Honeymoon: We plan to got to New England for a honeymoon sometime later this year.
